What Do You Want to Be Remember For?
What do you want to be remembered for? The question seems simple enough, but many people have a hard time answering it.
Even more interesting is that the people who can answer it with confidence give very different responses. It is not a situation in which the vast majority of respondents all give the same feedback.
Deciding how I want to be remembered has been an important step in helping me shape my life, define goals, and make decisions. Once a person decides how they want to be remembered, then they must set about the task of achieving whatever it is they want to be remembered for.
This is one of the primary reasons why self-reflection and asking yourself questions like, “How do I want to be remembered?” is key to winding up feeling satisfied and fulfilled with your life. We must each find a purpose that drives us, and then spend however much time we’re allotted on earth to make as much progress as we possibly can toward our goals.
Our time as living beings is finite and fleeting, and determining how I want to be remembered has helped me feel like I’m getting the most out of it and using it as wisely as I can.
What Do You Want to Be Remembered For?
Pondering this question is well worth the effort it requires. Deciding how you want to be remembered saps your brain power a little more than deciding what you want for dinner. It’s not necessarily a simple or straightforward task, but the benefit of tackling this question is worth the trouble it causes.
I want to be remembered for the inspiration I ignite in others to achieve their dreams. After much introspection, this is the most succinct summary I can give of what makes me feel fulfilled, what makes me feel like a valuable human being, and what brings me lasting happiness.
For these reasons, I have determined that being remembered for inspiring others to achieve their dreams is how I want to go down in history.
There are other, very personal ways in which I’d like to be remembered by those close to me, such as living with integrity in the face of ethical dilemma or doing everything in my power to raise my children as valuable contributors to society, which can be and are also reflected on my Peoplepedia page.
